The Final Countdown

In less then 24 hours Teaneck residents will find out if the town will fall in to the hands of fiscally irresponsible management as demonstrated by years of Monica Honis votes and the vocal supporters of Teaneck Divided; or will Teaneck residents have proper fiscal management as demonstrated by Goldman and Team Teaneck.

Oh- Just in case the Abott Meter is broken, yes, Toffler's mail and ads have been negative.

So, who is going to win this wacko election.

Put your prediction on the record. And use creative names so I don't have to stop allowing anonymous postings.

Bring back John Abraham as mayor!

Rudy has a chance with massive turnout in the northwest. Hammeduddin will get in if the northwest is very strong and he gets the Muslim vote to turn out. Honis has hurt her chances, but Toffler may squeak through, with Jackson trailing. Goldman should win a seat with support in all parts of Teaneck and Rose may ride on his coat tails. If Robinson wins we're in big trouble. Turnout will be the key.

THE TEANECK POLL

Anonymous said...

The following email was posted today on Teaneck Shuls. I thought there was a rule against this kind of stuff??

Mon May 12, 2008 5:54 pm (PDT)
Simple: Teaneck Taxes & Economy--we NEED tax relief--Please vote tomorrow
---TEAM TEANECK-(RUDOLPH, HAMEEDUDDIN & ROBINSON)

Dear Neighbor:

Tomorrow, May 13 there is a Township Council election.

Why is it so crucial?

We are in recession
Foreclosure rates are at all time highs
Utilities (gas and electric) have doubled
Insurance has gone up
Tolls are rising
Gas prices over $3.50 and climbing

It is no longer about making decisions based on what we desire, it is
prioritizing what we NEED.

I have been active in Teaneck politics for 18 years. I have seen and worked
with some of Teaneck's greatest elected officials. But I know one thing above
all else -- Your council must be able to work together to ensure progress.

This year, because of the economy, that NEED is at its greatest level.

It was only through working together that your Council was able to deliver
our Teaneck taxpayers a ZERO municipal tax increase in 2008.

Teaneck residents NEED tax relief and we NEED a council to be strong and
focused on addressing the most important thing - using less of your dollars to
manage the Town.

When the Council can work together to effectively reduce spending, you will
keep more of your hard earned dollars.

We must continue the progress; we NEED Team Teaneck.

Rudolph, Hameeduddin and Robinson --Lines 1-2-3-- are committed to working
together to save money for you and your family.

This Tuesday, May 13 (6am-8pm)
Vote Team Teaneck
Lines 1-2-3

The "rule" is that there are no political announcements - unless you are "sponsor of the week." So Elie is sponsor of the week (I wonder when he/Yitz reserved the slot) and he can write what he wants. It's a rule specifically designed to allow this kind of activity - if TeaneckShuls really didn't want political announcements they would never accept this type of "sponsorship."

Anonymous said...

As long as anyone is allowed to be sponsor of the week, it's perfectly permissable.

If you do want to argue about dirty campaigning, you may want to discuss the Laura Zucker add send out with her address and a phony paid for committee.

Illegal mailings....so much for the high road, Teaneck united?!?

Fellow citizens:

As a long time resident of Teaneck, allow me to weigh in on the Teaneck election. This is an election of vital importance for our community. Many in our community have been villified and attacked but the election is actually very clear and straightfoward. There really is only one choice.

In this election, the two most inept and incompetent of the current council are up for re-election. Both are extremely unimpressive and divisive. Send them home. GET RID OF RUDOLPH AND HONIS!!!!

Vote for GOLDMAN, ROSE and TOFFLER

Anonymous said...

Team Teaneck is Minor League.

Vote for GOLDMAN and ROSE and anyone else but Team Teaneck.

Anonymous said...

So, according to the Sponsor of the Week, Team Teaneck is going to lower gas prices? Wow! I'm definitely voting for them!

Anonymous said...

Don't be fooled by fear and scare tactics. Don't allow the uneducated and inarticulate to govern this great town. Vote for the best and the brightest.

GOLDMAN, ROSE and TOFFLER

Anonymous said...

Tell Boss Joe he can't take Teaneck hostage by running candidates that wouldn't win a high school election. Teaneck deserves better. Please vote for Goldman and Rose.

Anonymous said...

Keep begging.

Rose and Goldman were totally inarticulate on channel 9 Sunday.

Team Teaneck, on the other hand were clear and forthright in providing us candidates we could be proud of the previous week on the same program.

Anonymous said...

Goldman, Rose and Toffler!

Anonymous said...

Teaneck government will fall to an all time low if any of the Team Teaneck candidates are elected. Vote for Goldman, Rose and Jackson.

Anonymous said...

The host at 9 was so exasperated by Goldman's evasiveness that she called him "a politician".

Rose spoke about his desire "to break the bridges between communities".

Toffler cackled at that gaffe (but she left her broomstick and pointy hat home).

Anonymous said...

"Up up on your broomstick over Blue Mountain with your seventeen gentleman callers."

Goldman, Rose, Jackson

We need REAL leaders with REAL ideas and a REAL commitment to excellence on both the municipal stage and the personal stage. Say no more to dirty machine politics. Let's save our beloved Teaneck!

Anonymous said...

Hameeduddin, Rudolph, Goldman!!!!!

Anonymous said...

How can intelligent voters cast votes for the most undistinguished slate imaginable? Not a one of the Team Teaneck candidates graduated college (even though one said he did) and they have come across as incredibly dull and inarticulate. Not to mention, the leading member of Team Teaneck has been a total failure on the current council and is a lackey of a political boss.

Vote for competency: Goldman, Rose and Toffler!!

What good do college degrees do if you don't have the people skills?

What good do college degrees do if you don't have the people skills?

Great point! Rudoplh has proved that you don't even need a college degree to have no people skills...

Anonymous said...

Goldman and Rose will get the most votes. The only question is who will come in third Toffler or Jackson.

Anonymous said...

Goldman is a definite shoe-in. Everyone I've spoken to this week has been raving about him. I guess his "stay out of the dirt" mentality has really paid off.

Rudoplh will really need his supporters to come out if he expects to win a seat - the consensus around town regarding his campaign lately has been unfavorable at best. As for the rest of Team Teaneck, Hammeduddin and Robinson don't have much of a shot at all as of now. Too all over the place, too unfamiliar with township politics.

Honis REALLY needs as much support as she can get, shes lost a TON of votes over the course of the campaign and I'd be surprised if she is reelected.

I'm hopeful for Jackson, I think she has broad appeal throughout town and would be a great active voice on the council. She has my vote, and I hope others as well. She may come in 3rd if all goes well.

Rose is a great guy and I would love to see him on council. He has what it takes, but unfortunately I don't think he makes enough of an effort to make himself known. If he spent just a bit more time and money on campaigning and putting himself out there he'd be a definite, but I'm not counting on him winning.

As for Toffler, I never know what her deal is. I know she has alot of support, but I'm not quite sure from who. And I still have no idea how she would be on the council is she were to be elected. I'm fairly impartial to her. If she wins or loses, I wouldn't mind.

My vote:
Goldman, Rose, Jackson

My prediction:
1. Goldman
2. Jackson
3. Toffler
4. Rudolph
5. Honis
6. Hammeduddin
7. Robinson

Anonymous said...

Will Rose even make it to the rankings?

Anonymous said...

One thing is certain: Robinson is coming in last, as he should. One wonders what Team Teaneck was thinking when they put him on their slate.

What were they thinking? They weren't. And thats why we're in this horrible mess. Team Teaneck really insults the intelligence of Teaneck. I had only respect for Mayor Katz before this campaign. He's been a devoted public servant to the township for nearly two decades and, in my opinion, he's throwing it all away. I hope he redeems himself at some point - he's ruining his career.

Anonymous said...

Anyone whose met Robinson knows that he has nothing to offer. He has no support in the Northeast where he people know him well. Katz and Rudolph should be ashamed of trying to push this bozo on Teaneck. It's an embarrassment that Orthodox voters will obey their commands to vote for three people who don't deserve to be on the ballot in the first place.

Anonymous said...

when will the final official election results be in?

Anonymous said...

Goldman couldn't find his way out of a paper bag. Honis is the one that needs to be re-elected.

Anonymous said...

Honis? The gas chamber lady?

Anonymous said...

Jackson (and her campaign manager, Loretta) need to be shown the door. They have racially divided this town into 2 sections.

Anonymous said...

Honis? the racist vote isnt that large

Rose? I can see why the owner of a second hand bookstore deserves to run the town (LOL)

Hamme and Rudin? they're in

Goldman and Robinson will fight for the last seat

Monica's remarks will lead to a huge Jewish turnout that will turn her and her ilk out!

Here's my prediction:

1. Goldman
2. Rudolph

For third place it'll be either Rose or Hameeduddin, on the coattails of Goldman and Rudolph and respectively. It'll all depend on turnout.

Anonymous said...

Honis isn't racist. Just incompetent, like the other incumbent.

Anonymous said...

Rose? I can see why the owner of a second hand bookstore deserves to run the town (LOL)

Excuse me? Rose is retired. He spent his career in finance, serving as a financial officer at a number of universities, including FDU and Yeshiva University. He has a strong background in finance and management and has led a successful career, allowing him to pursue his passion of books in a rewarding second career. Compare that to Rudolph and Hammeduddin, who don't even have college degrees.

Hamme and Rudin? they're in

Never heard of them. If you mean Hammeduddin and Rudolph, I suggest you learn their names before heading to the polls, It would be embarrassing if you couldn't find them on the ballot.

Anonymous said...

"LOL"

The only laughing matter in this election are the laughable candidates Team Teaneck ran. No college degrees, no ability to express themselves intelligently, no original ideas, no interest in unifying an injured town. If it weren't so pathetic, it would be sad.

Anonymous said...

not nearly as embarrassing if the racist pig gets re-elected

Anonymous said...

the inside scoop says:

tenaeck united is getting desperate. they have looked at their poll numbers, and they are coming to the sobering realization that they havn't done a very good job convincing most of teaneck that they offer anything more than a lot of rhetoric and screaming.

I hear kramer is getting ready to commit hari kari (just kidding!)

Seriously, the polls do not look good for them, but we'll see.

esther said...

the "polls" are meaningless.

Anonymous said...

I hear kramer is getting ready to commit hari kari

What a shame.

Jerry, George and Elaine will be heartbroken.

Don't do it Cosmo!

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know what the turnout has been so far?

EMO said...

Monica's post election day party party will be held at Auschwitz!!!!

Anonymous said...

That last post is as inappropriate as Ms. Honis' comment. Why don't you devote your energy to making Ms. Honis sensitive about the Holocaust instead of making her into some sort of demon. She shouldn't be re-elected and her comment about "gas chambers" was awful. But don't make her hate you even more.

Anonymous said...

Exit polls show Goldman has a resounding lead.

Anonymous said...

Exit polls? Who is doing exit polls?

Anonymous said...

Boss Joe arranged for them. Apparently, the election is not turning out the way he had hoped.

Is it true that there is strong backing for Goldman in the Orthodox community? So much for the straight Team Teaneck ticket.

Is it true that there is strong backing for Goldman in the Orthodox community? So much for the straight Team Teaneck ticket.

Seems so. Alot of talk of him over the weekend. When i went to vote today, I heard his name thrown around alot outside the polls by friends/aquaintences of mine...Good luck Ned!

Anonymous said...

I guess the community doesn't really care what Yitz and Elie have to say. The Orthodox community is showing itself to be as smart as it is successful. Now, all that's needed is to get rid of Honis and Rudolph and this town will be on it way to a bright future.

Anonymous said...

Some of the most successful people in the world, including Bill Gates did not have college degrees, so I dont know why some of you are such self loathing haters that you pick on that...

I tell u, these blogs made me proud of the type of ignorance and hateful rhetoric we are breeding in this town.

Anonymous said...

That hateful rhetoric came about because the Jewish Voice and Opinion has spread lies and conspriacy theories in order to help Team Teaneck in this election and community leaders did not counter it. They embraced it. Doing what's right and standing up to lies is a more important Torah value than supporting a candidate just because he is from the same community. Let's not confuse what is the source of divisiveness in this town. But let's all resolve to work towards healing after the election is over.
